What we do

One crew for your whole door

From a single spring to a full new door, we install, tune and repair, all under one roof. Every service below carries the same quality promise.

The honest call

Repair it, or replace it?

Four parts do most of the failing. Here is what each one usually needs, so a quote never surprises you.

Springs

The usual suspect.

Signs
Loud bang, door won’t lift, opener strains
Call
Repair. Springs are wear parts, rated in cycles

On a two-spring door, replacing both usually saves the second call-out, the reason belongs in the quote, not on the invoice.

Panels & track

Dents happen.

Signs
Backed into it, hail, a bent rail, rollers jumping
Call
Single panels swap while the line is still made; bent track is fixable

A new panel in a sun-faded door will read slightly newer. We say that before, not after.

Opener

The quiet worker.

Signs
Grinding, stalling, no response, 10–15 years old
Call
Often replaceable on its own, with the safety-reverse set and tested

A new motor doesn’t fix a heavy door. Balance first, opener second, anyone who skips that order sells you the same problem twice.

The whole door

Sometimes it’s time.

Signs
Repeat repairs, rusted bottom, no safety sensors, single-skin steel
Call
Replacement, insulated doors also cut noise and cold

New garage doors rank among the best resale returns of any home project. Still, if yours has five good years left, we’ll say so.

Not sure which yours is? Describe the sound it makes, we can usually tell you over the phone what you’re looking at.

Straight pricing

One number. In writing. It doesn’t move.

No hourly meter, no surprise line items, no “while we’re at it”. You approve one clear quote before a single bolt turns, so you know the cost up front.

The door check

We visit, measure every surface and listen to what you actually want. Free, and it stays free.

02
Your clear quote

Door, parts, labor and haul-away, one line, one price. Approved by you before anything starts.

In writing03
Signed & guaranteed

The number lands in writing with a one-year workmanship warranty. If it isn’t right, we make it right.

The breakdown

What moves the number.

No mystery math. Four things decide what garage door work costs, and we walk every one with you before the quote lands.

What's failingA dry roller or a single spring is a quick, flat-priced visit. Cables, a bent track or a full door are a different order of work. What's actually failing decides most of the number.
Door size & materialA single steel door and a double insulated or solid-wood one are worlds apart in weight and hardware. Size and material set the base.
Access & headroomA tight garage, low headroom or a car trapped against the door is careful hand work, and worth doing right.
TimingFlexible scheduling costs less. A same-morning rescue for a snapped spring can be met, priced plainly.

Whatever the mix, you get one clear quote, in writing, before any work starts.

What a serious garage-door quote includes, ours or anyone’s:
  • The part named: spring type and cycle rating
  • Labor and trip charge inside the number, not after it
  • Safety-reverse test before the truck leaves, stated
  • Old parts hauled away, stated
  • Warranty terms on part and labor, in writing
  • A time window you can plan around
This is the trade where a $99 ad becomes an $800 invoice. A written, itemized quote is how you make that impossible.
On the job

Real doors, real daily cycles, tuned to whisper

From a carriage-style upgrade that resets the whole facade to a 6am spring rescue, this is the work we tune, balance and warranty across Portland every day.

The morning it jammed

Recent jobs

Real work, in plain numbers.

Three jobs from the past few months, what they were, where, and how long they actually took.

Broken springs, replaced
Sellwood·2 hours

Both torsion springs snapped on a 16-foot door. Swapped in a matched high-cycle pair, re-set the winding, checked cable tension and balanced the door so it holds halfway on its own.

New carriage door, installed
Laurelhurst·1 day

Old single-panel steel out, insulated carriage-style door in. Re-shimmed the tracks square, hung new rollers and hardware, and tuned the opener travel limits so it seats soft and reverses on the safety beam.

Off-track door, emergency
Montavilla·90 minutes

Door jumped the track after a car nudge and jammed shut at 6am. Freed the panels, straightened a bent track section, reseated the rollers and cables, and cycled it a dozen times to confirm it rides quiet again.

Where we work

Proudly serving the Portland metro

A lot of our work comes from a neighbor who watched us work the house next door. If you're in the metro, we're just around the corner.

Nine wet months a year work on every spring and track around here — rust is the local door-killer, which is why lube-and-inspect visits catch most failures before the bang.

How it goes

From first call to done.

No mystery in the middle. This is the path the job actually takes, start to finish.

01
The phone callday 1

You call and talk to a real person, not a dispatcher script. We ask what the door is doing, how old it is, and set a time for a real tech to come look, usually the same week.

02
The on-site walkthroughwithin a few days

A tech measures the opening, checks the spring cycles, tracks, cables and opener, and looks at how the door sits in the frame. We tell you what's worn and what can wait, no upsell on parts that still have life.

03
Quote lands in writingwithin 24 hours

You get a clear quote by email with the door model, spring size, opener and labor broken out line by line. The quote we give you is clear up front.

04
Install day1-2 weeks out

Our own crew shows up in the booked window, hangs the door square and balances it to a fingertip, sets the spring pairs matched and cycles the opener with the safety reverse. Most single doors are done in a day.

05
Walkthrough and warrantybefore we leave

We run the door with you, show you the manual release and the reverse test, and sweep up every panel scrap and old cable. You get the written warranty on parts and labor in your hand before the truck pulls away.

Before you hire anyone

Five questions for every garage door company.

Including us. This trade has more bait-pricing than any other that visits your driveway. Five questions on the phone sort it out before anyone rings your bell.

01What does a spring swap cost, all-in?

Part, labor and trip, one number or an honest range, on the phone. Whoever won’t say until they’re “on site” plans to sell you there.

02Which spring, rated for how many cycles?

10,000-cycle and 25,000-cycle springs are different parts at different prices. “Lifetime spring” without a number is marketing, not a spec.

03One spring or both, and why?

On a two-spring door there’s a fair case for both, same age, same wear. The right answer is an explanation, not a scare story.

04Do you test the safety reverse before you leave?

The door must reverse on contact, that’s what protects kids, pets and bumpers. It takes two minutes and belongs in every visit.

05Where are you actually based?

Lead sites without a local address dispatch whoever bought the call. A company with an address here is still here when the warranty matters.

Bring this list to the call. We’ll answer all five before you ask.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Getting started
Do you charge for estimates?+
No. Written estimates for every service and commercial plans are always free, we visit, measure, talk through doors and options, and email you a clear, itemized quote with no obligation.
How soon can you start?+
Most estimates go out within a day, and typical projects are scheduled within one to two weeks. For urgent renews, before a move, a sale or an event, just tell us the date and we'll do our best to fit you in.
What does “free estimates” mean?+
Before any work begins, we give you one clear quote to approve, prep, materials and labor included. No hourly meter, no surprise add-ons at the end. You always decide before we start.
What should I do before you arrive?+
Move the car out if the door still opens, and nothing else. If it will not open, leave it exactly as it is, doors in distress get worse with cycling.
Doors, springs & openers
Is a grinding or slapping sound urgent?+
Grinding is dry rollers, annoying but patient. A slap or bang on start is often a cable or spring announcing itself, stop using the door and call.
Why replace both springs at once?+
They age as a pair, when one breaks the other has weeks left. One visit, matched pair, balanced door, it is cheaper than two rescues.
What brands do you install?+
Major-manufacturer doors and belt-drive openers we can still get parts for in fifteen years, quoted honestly against your budget.
Can you price over the phone?+
For springs, openers and tune-ups, usually yes, exactly. New doors get a free measure so the quote is real, not a range.
Are high-cycle springs worth it?+
If the door runs six-plus times a day, absolutely, four times the life for a modest upcharge. Light users can skip them, and we say so.
What happens during the free door check?+
We cycle the door, test balance at three heights, read the springs, cables and rollers, and hand you a plain-English verdict with flat prices per fix.
Why does my opener strain or reverse?+
Usually the door, not the opener: failing balance makes the motor lift real weight and the safety logic push back. Balance first, then judge the opener.
Can a badly dented door be saved?+
Often, single panels swap in place and read as one. Around three damaged sections the math flips to a new door, we show both numbers.
Response, durability & guarantee
How fast can you come?+
Trapped cars and snapped springs jump the line, usually same morning. Tune-ups and installs book within the week.
Which door style fits my house?+
Tap through the Door Studio above, carriage, modern flush, cedar-look, and the page takes each tone. Bring your favorite to the free measure.
Do you haul away the old door?+
Same day, springs and all, recycled where the steel allows. The garage floor gets swept before we go.
Is the work guaranteed?+
Yes, in writing, parts and labor. If a spring we wound or a door we hung acts up, we come back first and free.
Is the Care Plan worth it?+
For most homes, yes: an annual inspection, free scuff and touch-up visits, priority scheduling, and 15% off future projects typically pay for the membership the first time you use it, and keep every finish looking new.
